IG Coaching Network Talk: Paula Prober on Your Rainforest Mind

Your Rainforest Mind

With: Paula Prober
When: July 12th, 2016 at 6.00pm Central European Summer Time

Paula Prober has been working to help gifted individuals for nearly 40 years, first as a teacher and for the last 25 years, as a psychotherapist, consultant, writer, and speaker. In her new book, Your Rainforest Mind: A Guide to the Well-Being of Gifted Adults and Youth, we meet clients with whom she has worked in her counseling practice. Some entered therapy to examine the roots of their existential depression, despair, or anxiety; others wanted to understand their frustrations with relationships, schooling, or career paths. Many experienced trauma in childhood. All of them felt the pressures, pleasures, and peculiarities of living inside the highly intense and complicated rainforest mind…

Rainforest mind? you ask. This is the analogy that Paula developed as an alternative to the label “gifted,” which is often seen as controversial and confusing. Her work and writing aims to help all of us with “rainforest minds” to better understand the complexities of our creative, sensitive, passionate, and smart selves, and to ultimately live like the thriving rain forest – in balance, peace, grace and beauty, and in support of all beings on the planet.

In her Coaching Network Talk on July 12th, Paula presented case histories from her book, took questions about her book, her work, and her advice to all of us trying to learn to do as she teaches: thrive in our rainforest minds. There was a wonderful and touching discussion that will not disappoint!
