Gifted Autistic Women’s Group
“I emerged much more confident of who I am and where I fit into the world”
I only realised my autism last year at the age of 50, so was intrigued to join the Gifted Autistic Women’s Group and connect with other 2e women. Although we were all different ages and life stages and live on different continents, it was great to connect and compare similarities and differences in our life experiences and challenges, to swap resources and – mostly – to receive the social mirroring that we all, to some extent or another, missed out on growing up. Although I (coincidentally) underwent some positive disintegration during the 6 months I was part of the group, I emerged the other side much more confident of who I am and where I fit into the world.
